In Celebration of

Marisa Cerruti

May 12, 1926 -  January 21, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marisa, after a courageous battle with cancer. Marisa was pre-deceased by her husband Secondo, in December 2009. She leaves behind her children Lou (Sylvia) and Mary (Rocco); grandchildren Sebastian (Hope), Katarina (Ryan), Simon, Christian, and Julian; as well as her new great-grandson Adrian. She will also be missed by her treasured relatives in Italy which include: brothers Leo (Elda), and Desio (Marisa); sister in law Luiga; several nieces and a nephew. She is predeceased by her sister Eni and brother in law Ubaldo. Marisa was a feisty, strong, intelligent and a very motivated person. She came to Canada when she married “Nino” in 1960, and together they worked to achieve and realize all of her dreams including learning to read and write in English, getting her driver’s license at age 56, spending her winters in Florida, and living independently in her home until very recently. Marisa had many friends in Canada, Italy and Florida, who enjoyed playing cards and taking long walks. She learned computer skills and loved to receive emails from friends and relatives. Nothing pleased Marisa more than to spend time with her family especially her grand-children. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 921 Flagship Dr. (at Tomken Rd.) on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 10 am, followed by reception in the Hall. Entombment Assumption Cemetery.

Dear Mary and Louie,
So sorry to hear about your mom. I offer my deepest condolences.
Lots of great memories in your backyard. My favourite memory of your mom
is how excited she was that you were listening to "Madonna", thinking that she
was such a religious performer. That was before "Like a Virgin" and the missile bras.
I will keep you in my prayers. Janina

Our deepest condolences to the whole family. In the short time we met your mother we realized what a wonderful woman she was. She shared many words of wisdom with us. Finding the time to give us encouragement for our mothers battle while she was fighting her own. You will forever be in our hearts. The OA originals! The thought of you and my mother coming down to the unit at the same time and leaving at the same time is unbelievable but gives us comfort knowing you are traveling together to be with your husbands.
God bless.
