In Celebration of

Marion Joyce Hayward

November 12, 1959 -  August 18, 2018

The family is saddened to announce the passing of our beloved sister, Marion Hayward. Marion was predeceased by our mother, Lucy Marguerite Hayward (nee Wilburn) (2014), and father, John (Jack) Hayward (1999). The loss of Marion is deeply mourned by her brother, Stephen and his wife, Jean; her sisters Frances Brummer, Cathy Hayward; nephews and nieces Philip Hayward, Anne (Mrs. Michael O'Hara) and Eleanor Hayward, Nick, Tyson, and Roxanne Brummer; grand-nieces Meghan and Erin O'Hara; Aunt Joyce (Mrs. John Wilburn), Uncle John Glover, plus numerous cousins, friends and colleagues, notably her close friend and colleague, David Lepofsky, formerly of the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, with whom she worked for nearly two decades. We were blessed by her undying love of her family, her magically irreverent wit, her incisive mind, her endless curiosity, and her steadfast loyalty to her friends. We are very grateful for the exceptional care Marion received at Dorothy Ley Hospice by the professional and volunteer staff. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted at Dorothy Ley Hospice in Marion's memory. In accordance with her wishes, Marion has been cremated with no funeral. Her ashes will be interred privately at McKee Cemetery, Belwood, Ontario.

Marion was well known for her impressive range of knowledge to the point where it was virtually impossible to find a subject in which she was not well-versed. When we were visiting her at the Dorothy Ley Hospice one day, we assumed that she was asleep so we were chatting quietly with Fran about a cottage we were planning on visiting the next day. However, an error was made in the pronunciation of the road where the cottage was situated. From the bed, we hear Marion, eyes still closed, telling us the proper name of the road! Marion was Marion until the end. We will miss her.

Fran, thinking of you, and your family, at this difficult time. Huge hugs.

Marion will be sorely missed. She had a quiet voice, but she was a force! I think the phrase "vim and verve" apply to her incredible wit and quick verbal repartee.
