In Celebration of

Marilyn Margaret Helen Herron (née Langdon)

August 6, 1933 -  July 24, 2025

With deep love and heavy hearts, the family of Marilyn Margaret Helen Herron announces her peaceful passing surrounded by her loved ones at the Credit Valley Hospital on July 24.

Born in the month of August as a beautiful ‘Leo the Lion’ Margaret lived a long and fulfilling life, defined by uncommon grace, quiet strength, fun and unwavering love. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Alexander Herron and a devoted Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend.

Margaret shared a lifelong bond with her sister, roommate and best friend, Adele Laughton. Their deep connection, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support, stood the test of time. Predeceased by her parents Stanley Langdon and Grace Langdon (nee Paddock) and brothers Bruce Langdon (Doreen), Al Langdon (Betty) and brother-in-law Glenn Laughton.

She was the loving mother of the late Lynda Forbes (David) and the late Ann Herron, and is lovingly remembered by her children Catherine Wilson (Brian), Bob Herron (Karyn), Jayne Herron and Bruce Herron (Roxanne). Margaret’s nurturing presence and quiet wisdom were gifts she generously shared with all who knew her.

Cherished Nan to Rob Herron (Alexandra), Carolyn Wilson, Shalayne Herron, Alexandra Lindsay (Cam), Victoria Herron, and Olivia Herron (Liam), Margaret's legacy lives on in the lives of her grandchildren. As Gigi, she was admired, adored, and deeply loved by her great-grandchildren (Adalyn, William and Matthew). She was also affectionately known as “Auntie Marg” to many nieces and nephews, offering each of them her kindness, warmth, and friendship. She was also a treasured friend to many.

Margaret will be remembered for her steady presence, her joyful spirit, and the quiet wisdom she carried so gracefully. She listened with love and intention, making everyone around her feel truly seen, heard, and valued.

In her younger years, Margaret was a spirited baseball player and her love of sports stayed with her for life. She had a deep appreciation for music. She cherished a stirring hymn, the sound of bagpipes, or a well-played tune. A beautiful pianist, she brought beauty and harmony into her home through her playing. Before every sports game, she would pause to listen to the national anthem, at great volume, a ritual that reflected her deep respect for tradition and her unwavering values.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to the Ovarian Cancer Canada or Alzheimer's Society of Canada, both causes near and dear to her heart.

Our sympathy to the family of Marg. Our thoughts are with you all. David’s mother Irene Paddock Montgomery ( daughter of George Paddock) and her siblings: Earl and Lorne Paddock were Marg’s first cousins. Irene passed away in January 2025. I remember Marg and Del well when Irene and I would met to all visit Auntie Bea in Guelph. Marg was such a fun loving person. Rest in peace Marg.

I have so many wonderful memories of time spent with Auntie Marg. I can only hope that these memories will eventually temper the deep sadness I feel.

Auntie Marg was our NORTHSTAR, the ultimate catalyst between the generations. She showed us the way, intrepid, courageous, a true (Lioness). She was our cheerleader, moral guide, and a true Second Mom to many of us.

Her spirit and soul will live forever in our hearts.

With all my love, grace, and respect xoxo Stan

It is difficult to find the appropriate words to describe such a wonderful lady. Her joyful personality and generosity were second to none. She was a lady in the truest sense of the word.
We send our love and sincere condolences to her wonderful family.
