In Celebration of

Marija (Salomėja) ŠIŪLYS

October 23, 1926 -  February 7, 2021

Marija passed away peacefully on February 7, 2021 in Ottawa in her 95th year.

Marija was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Pranas Šiūlys. Beloved mother to daughter Rūta (Raimundas) Kličius in Ottawa and son Rimas in Edmonton. Proud grandmother to Karolina (Jason), Andrius, Kenton and Clarke. Great grandmother to Lija Pellerin.

Born in Šakiai, Lithuania, the third eldest of eight children. She came to Canada from England with her husband in 1952. Settling in Hamilton, she had diverse jobs, the most important of which was raising two children and spoiling grandchildren.

Her most cherished moments and greatest joy was spending time with her family. She loved cooking for them and her friends. She was a chef extraodinaire catering over 25 Lithuanian weddings and events in Hamilton. Her signature baravykai cookies and stuffed chicken roll have been enjoyed by many.

After 46 years in Hamilton, in 2006 she moved to Ottawa. The family is grateful for the loving care she received during the past seven years in years at Peter D. Clark Long Term Care.

During COVID, only family members will be attending her memorial prayers and burial.

Nuosirdi uzuojauta brangios mamos/mocutes mirties.

I always considered "Mama Siulinene" a second mom. One of my favourite memories was decorating baravykai at Ruta's house on Charing Road with both of our mothers. It seems like yesterday.

Ruta and family, keep your treasured memories close to your hearts. They will comfort you like a warm blanket during the difficult times.

My deepest sympathies.
Loretta
