It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria do Rosário Teixeira Jacob (also known as Rosarina). After a short battle with cancer, she passed away with the love and support of her family by her side on January 8, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on October 2, 1941, in Saõ Miguel, Açores, to Manuel Teixeira and Silvana Martinho de Viveiros, Maria do Rosario always led with her heart and her greatest joy was her family.

On July 7, 1968, Maria immigrated to Canada leaving her family behind to marry Mariano Jacob on July 27, 1968, at St. Mary’s Church in Toronto. A woman of devout faith, Maria started a new life defined by compassion, generosity, sacrifice and quiet strength. She worked tirelessly raising a loving family and dedicating herself as a caregiver to many, placing their well-being before her own. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of devotion, integrity, and commitment. She was a faithful wife, cherished mother, beloved mother-in-law, proud grandmother, caring sister, and aunt. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her love reflected her faith in God. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Maria was predeceased by her husband Mariano. She is survived by her four children, John (Grace), Paula (Sidonio), Frank (Diana), and Stephen (Sandy).

She will be greatly missed by her ten grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew, Megan, Sarah, Adam, Kevin, Joshua, Alexandra, Noah, and Julianna. Survived by her siblings, Margarida (Jose), Antonio (Evangelina), Maria da Luz (Joaquim) and predeceased by Jose (Teresa) and Maria do Carmo (Antonio). Her legacy of kindness and perseverance endures. We will always remember her strength and courage, and her love will live on forever in our hearts.
