Zenia Okipniuk, 95, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2022. She was born in Brody, Ukraine, to Olha and Evhen Kapij. Her postwar journey brought her to Canada in January, 1949, after which she was joined by her family and eventually married her husband of 68 years, Wolodymyr Okipniuk.

Zenia was kind and patient, brave and curious, funny and intelligent, and gifted in many ways. She will be missed deeply and remembered lovingly by her children and grandchildren. She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, especially by the generation of children she taught in Ukrainian school for many years.
Survived by her children Iryna and Myron (Tanya), grandchildren Andrea and Avery, brother Lubomyr Kapij, nieces, nephews and cousins, she was preceded in death by her husband, sister Neonila Tkach and parents.

Funeral services will be private for the immediate family. Expressions of sympathy may be made as donations to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Center, to whom her family is extremely grateful.
