It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Teresa Silva, lovingly known as Teresa, who was born in Pero Moniz, Cadaval, Portugal. Teresa was the cherished daughter of Manuel Mateus and Julia Brazao Mateus, and from an early age, she carried with her the deep values of kindness, compassion, and generosity that would define her entire life.
Teresa was married to the love of her life, the late Fausto da Costa Silva, with whom she shared a beautiful life built on devotion, respect, and unwavering affection. Though he predeceased her, their bond remained a constant source of strength and pride throughout her life.
She was the beloved mother of Ana Cristina Silva Santos, mother-in-law to Tony Santos, and the adoring Vovó Teresa to Christopher, Nicholas, and Bryce, who were, without question, the apple of her eye. Her family, both in Canada and Portugal, held her close, and she touched countless others with her warmth, her gentle spirit, and her selfless nature. Teresa always thought of others first and herself last, and she gave love freely to all who knew her.
Teresa was a woman who took tremendous pride in caring for her husband and family. She was creative and enjoyed reading, and she took great pride in her personal work projects. Her hobbies, which included baking, knitting, cross-stitch, and sewing, kept her busy and brought her joy throughout her life. She was a best friend to her daughter, a trusted confidante to many, and a joyful presence whose company was cherished by women and friends across generations. Her ability to make others feel understood and appreciated leaves a legacy of compassion that will echo in the hearts of many.
Her passing leaves a deep void. Her memory will forever live on in the stories, laughter, and love she shared. We will never forget our beloved Mom, our dear Vovó Teresa, who blessed our lives beyond measure.
