It is with profound sadness and deep appreciation for a life well lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Maria (Mary) Grobin, a beautiful and beloved mother, Stara Mama, and wife to the late Anthony Grobin (1997). Cherished mother of Irene (Mario), Mary-Anne (Paul), and Andrea (Robert). Beloved grandmother of Katherine (Martin), Anthony (2020), and Madeleine.
Mary was a courageous woman of extraordinary strength and unwavering faith. She survived the devastation and struggles of the second World War and endured many hardships that shaped her into a woman of resilience, courage, and deep compassion for others.
Mary was known for her boundless warmth and generosity towards family, friends, neighbours, and anyone in need. Her doors were always open, and she gave wholeheartedly to others. Many children were lovingly welcomed and entrusted to her care, and she enjoyed contributing to the community through her volunteer efforts at local and Slovenian clubs and associations. Knitting was one of her greatest passions and much of her work was generously gifted to family and donated to charities she held dear to her heart.
Mary will always be remembered for her bountiful vegetable and beautiful flower gardens, her delicious biscotti and strudels, and her pride for her Slovenian heritage. She encouraged and guided her children, grandchildren, and all the children she cared for to be hardworking, to live honest lives, to pursue their education, and to be the best persons they could be.
She will be greatly missed by her children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She is deeply loved and will forever be remembered.
In lieu of donations, please extend an act of kindness in Mary’s memory.
