In Celebration of

Maria Luisa Reis Da Rocha

March 30, 1935 -  August 29, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria Luisa, at the age of 86. Predeceased by our father and her husband of almost 50 years, Porfirio. Mom will forever be lovingly remembered by sons John, and Joe (Melisa), and daughter Luisa. “Micas” was the oldest of eight and will be sadly missed by her family and friends in Canada and Portugal.

Mom and dad came to Canada as newlyweds in 1964 and quickly made a wonderful life for their growing family. Gardening was one of their passions, and they both loved being anywhere outdoors, especially tending to the flowers and vegetables in their “jardim.” Mom loved watching cooking shows, and we were often the lucky recipients of her creative take on the latest show she had watched on the Food Network. She was head over heels in love with her grand kitty Zoe, who has been waiting patiently for her in heaven.

A visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga on September 8 from 4 - 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held on September 9 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 11 Peter St. S., Port Credit. Interment will follow at Glen Oaks Memorial Gardens, Oakville.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at the visitation and funeral mass is limited. To register, please copy and paste the link below into your browser. In keeping with current health and safety protocols, there will not be a reception following the interment.
