Maria Do Carmo Cabral Amaral

April 21, 1932 - February 19, 2026

Maria Do Carmo Cabral Amaral peacefully passed away in her 93rd year. She immigrated to Canada from Sao Miguel Açores, Portugal, in April 1972.

Maria was happiest with her adopted family, her late husband Artur's 3 daughters, their spouses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all loved their Vavó.

She cherished every moment she had with her siblings, nephews, nieces and friends.

Daughters & Spouses: Eduarda (Mary) Sousa (Joe), Evelyn Czerny (pre-deceased) (Gunther), Veneranda (Vern) Mallozzi (Vince)

Grandchildren: Jason, Mark, Amanda, Tyler, Bradley, Allison, Matthew, Aaron

Great-Grandchildren: Jayden, Mia, Bella, Nathan, Noah, Liam, Valentina, Aria, Alyenna

Dioniso Dutra (pre-deceased)

Gloria Lima (pre-deceased)
Herculano Dutra (pre-deceased)

Maria loved to garden and took pride in her vegetable and flower gardens.

Maria's faith wasn’t just something she practiced on Sundays; it was a part of her daily life. This helped her find strength, purpose and compassion through her devotion to her religion.

She will be greatly missed but forever in our hearts.

Dear Maria...thank you for being the most wonderful neighbor we could ask for. More like a grandmother to our kids. Watching you in your garden with such pride. I’m so sorry I wasn’t there to see her before this happened, and I’m so sorry for your loss. I’ll miss seeing her as I cut the grass or shovelled the snow and telling her she was doing something she shouldn’t like walking with he came on the ice. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My stepmother came into our lives when I was an adult and from day 1 she treated us all as if we were her own. Each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored her, (especially her famous french fries) and she cherished them all deeply.

I will miss our daily phone call as this became a constant for many many years and every day she always made a point to ask about Vince, Matthew, Aaron and their families.

RIP Senhora Maria.
