Maria passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2026 at Grace Manor (Brampton) at the age of 94. Maria is once again holding hands with her beloved husband, Alex (1997).
She is predeceased by her brothers Iso, George, Pane and Nikola and parents Mile and Andjela.
Loving mother to Katherine Gardner (Ross), and grandmother (Baba) to her treasured Carly Gardner (Robert).

Born in Serbia, Maria emigrated to Canada, via Austria. Maria was a proud Canadian, and was forever grateful for the peace and freedom she was able to enjoy in her new home.
Her brilliant smile would light up the room, and her laughter was undeniably infectious. Maria was our family’s consummate storyteller, with a love of dramatic flair, always drawing her listeners in for more.
She enjoyed a good cup of coffee, perhaps with just a little slice of apple pie. Maria loved the outdoors and the soulfulness of nature, happily spending hours tending to her lush garden.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm, with a Funeral Service at 3:00 pm at Turner & Porter Neweduk-Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, Ontario.

If you are able to join us, please don’t hesitate to wear a bright splash of colour in recognition of Maria’s love of flowers.
