It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Bindas (Babiak).
She passed away peacefully at home with her daughter Anna and grandson Jarko by her side as she took her last breaths.
Maria was born in 1934 in Jawirnyk, Ukraine. She was the eldest of 12 children and was impacted by the deportation of Akcja Wisla to Poland in 1947 where she later met her husband, married and had three children. Maria and Antoni immigrated to Canada in 1991 to join their children. Maria gave her time to her family and spent much of her life close to the church. She loved making varenyky and other delicious Ukrainian food which was her passion in keeping everyone fed.
Maria was predeceased by her husband Antoni, and her daughter-in-law Helena Bindas. She is survived by her children Petro (Hanna) Bindas, Anna (Miroslaw) Samoil, Stefan (Danuta) Bindas, her grandchildren Marta (Paul) Buryn, Daria (Mark) Kachmar, Mike (Mariya) Bindas, Natalia (Ihor) Fik, Jaroslaw Samoil, Lesia (Jeremy) Moroch, Yuri (Marusia) Bindas, Roman Bindas and Lydia Bindas as well as 12 great-grandchildren Kristin, Maia and Xenia Buryn; Andrew, Luke, Nicholas and Damian Kachmar; Mia, Melania and Matea Bindas; Lily and Marko Fik.
May she rest in eternal peace.
