In Celebration of

Maria Anna "Marian" Douglas Borg

January 22, 1931 -  January 1, 2019

January 22nd, 1931 (Senglea, Malta) – January 1st, 2019 (Mississauga, Ontario)
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marian announces her passing on January 1st, 2019 in her 87th year. Predeceased by her cherished parents Emanuel and Caroline Douglas and by her son Sam. Marian leaves behind her former spouse Peter, her children Elizabeth (Russell), Norman (Nancy), James (Susan), her grandchildren Kimberlee (Jason), Steven, Erick, Amber, and her great-grandchildren Noah and Simon.

Marian was a feisty woman with a kind heart and a strong will. A devout Catholic, she recited the rosary daily and took comfort in her faith. She enjoyed dancing, live music and socializing. She loved to clean, to sew, playing the lottery and sharing stories with her loved ones and friends.

In her working life, Marian held many jobs. But she was always most proud of her role as a housekeeper in a long-term care facility, where she often spent time visiting with residents, encouraging them to eat and to share their stories with her.

Marian enjoyed traveling to many places in the world aboard cruise ships and on road trips with the church and her family. She spent many happy years vacationing at her home in Florida and summers at her cottage on McKellar Lake.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Neweduk-Erin Mills’ Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (east of Erin Mills Pkwy), on Sunday, January 6th, 2019 from 2-6pm.

A Catholic funeral mass will take place at St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church at 1171 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga ON L5J 2W1, Monday, January 7th, 2019 at 11 am.

A private family interment will take place immediately following mass at Springcreek Cemetery.
A small reception for all will follow the mass at St Christopher’s Church, basement hall.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marian’s name to St. Christopher’s Roman Catholic Church 1171 Clarkson Road North, Mississauga ON L5J 2W1.

The greatest comfort we could have when we lose those closest to us is a knowledge from God‘s word that death does not have the final say - Jesus does. May the promise of the resurrection bring you peace, comfort, and Victorious hope, even in the midst of your sorrow.
Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in Me will never die.
John 11:25
May you find comfort in the Lord during this difficult time. Knowing that so many of us are thinking and praying for you.
Love Lori-Ann & Bill
