In Celebration of

Margot da Camara (nee Sue-A-Quan)

October 7, 1939 -  June 9, 2023

“Forever in Our Hearts”

Passed away on June 9th at Mississauga Trillium Hospital after a hard and courageous battle with infections. She coped with her failing health with grace and inner strength, was proudly independent and always remained hopeful of returning home.

Born in British Guiana to Johanna (nee Wong) and William Sue-A-Quan, Margot was the youngest of 13 children. She lost her Mother early in her life and was raised by her father and family members. She learned to treasure the love of “a Mother” and at a young age undertook the role of matriarch within our family.

Wife of her beloved husband Denis, mother of Susan, Marcelle, Mark and Debra. Grandmother of Samantha (Andrew), Courtney (Cory) and Spencer and great-grandmother of Asher, Sophie, Luca and an expectant fourth. She cared deeply about her family, extended family and friends and provided support during challenging times and was always there to listen, love and assist as needed.

Margot was a kind, loving, generous and caring person, who was loved by her family and all who met her. Under her direction, the family immigrated to Canada in 1969, seeking a better life for their children and became proud Canadian citizens. She was an excellent homemaker, who lovingly cared for her children, enjoyed cooking, crocheting many projects and assisted her son to tend the garden. When her husband Denis started the family marine repair business in 1978, now managed by their son Mark, she assumed the role of Secretary and bookkeeper.

During the winter months, she looked forward to driving with her husband to Florida in their RV, where they formed endearing friendships. While vacationing at the campground, Margot became a proud member of the “Red Hat” ladies and participated in many social gatherings and outings.

Margot was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She ensured that her children attended Sunday mass and took the Rite of Christian Initiation in her adult life. This provided comfort and she was blessed in overcoming many prior serious illnesses with the endearing support of her children, especially Debra who sat many nights at her bedside.

She was loved dearly and will be sadly missed and forever remembered. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors for the care she received at Mississauga Trillium Hospital, especially the ICU team and her home caregiver, Josephine.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 4-8 pm. WEEP NOT FOR ME
Author Constance Jenkins

Weep not for me though I have gone
Into the gentle night
Grieve if you will but not for long
Upon my soul’s sweet flight

I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years

There is no pain, I suffer not
The fear is now all gone
Put now these things out of your thoughts
In your memory I live on

Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death
But celebrate my life

My sincere condolences to the Dacamara family at the loss of your dear mother. My sisters and I went to school with Susan, Marcelle and Debbie. I remember visiting the Dacamaras' home and enjoying the delicious meals made by Mrs. Dacamara. She was a kind, hospitable, and loving person. My heart goes out to you at this very sad time. May the warm memories you have of her give you comfort and ease the pain in your heart.
