In Celebration of

Margaret Spencer Preston (nee Large)

February 18, 1917 -  August 29, 2016

After a brief illness, the flame of a ‘life well lived’ was extinguished on Monday, August 29, 2016. It is with sadness that the Preston and Shorey families announce the passing of their matriarch in her 100th year. Born in Brantford, Ontario to Lyle and Spencer Large. Peggy was the beloved wife of the late John C. Preston. She will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Mags Shorey (Roger) of Oakville, and her son, John Preston (Monika) of Palm Beach, Florida, her grandchildren Susie Shorey (Jamie List), Preston Shorey (Stephanie), David Shorey (Casey), Stephen Preston (Nicole) and Jeff Preston (Cameron). She delighted in being Gi-Gi to thirteen awesome great grandchildren. She will fondly be remembered for what she did for others. We will miss her knitting, needlepoint, jams and yummy soups. Great memories abound!
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the “I-Care” Fund at the Oakville Hospital Foundation (905-338-4642 or www.oakvillehospitalfoundation.com) would be appreciated. Peggy set this fund up to help those in need who are experiencing a health issue.
A Celebration of her life will take place at First United Church, 151 Lakeshore Rd West, Mississauga at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. Visitation will be 1 hour prior.
Online condolences can be made through www.turnerporter.ca

So sorry to hear this news. I will miss her and her great marmalade which I gladly accepted in exchange for doing a small chore for her. She was a great lady.

I was sorry to read in the Globe that your mother had died but it sounds like she had a great life. I have John and Margaret Preston in my family tree as they are second cousins once removed. I am descended from James and Emmeline Preston through my grandmother Irene Preston. I am sorry we cannot attend the service as we live in Halifax.

Dear Margaret & John: what a lovely picture of your mom. She looks exactly as she did so many years ago when we all were so young.
With my sincere sympathy.

Dear Mags and Roger,
I was so sad to read the news of your Mum's passing and yet as you write she had a life well lived.
I have so many happy memories of her as we were growing up, both in Brantford and at the cottage. What an amazing lady. You have chosen a wonderful photo of her and it gives me great pleasure. My thoughts are with you all. .Much love,

Lorna
