In Celebration of

Margaret (Peggy) Hamilton

March 15, 1926 -  September 22, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Nana, Aunt Peg and loyal friend to so many. At the extraordinary age of 97, she was her usual cheerful, patient and caring self-right until the end. Peggy was born to Fred and Laura Anthony and grew up in Toronto, alongside her brothers Pete and Gary. She married Murray Steels in 1950 and welcomed a daughter, Karen, in 1951. When Murray passed away, Peggy married Bob Hamilton, blending families with Karen, Gary and Glen, and adding a son, Terry, in 1965. Peggy took the role of caregiving very seriously and managed a house full of growing children and aging parents with unmatched grace and determination. Later in life, she played an instrumental role in raising three granddaughters Robin, Colleen and Erin, and always made time for countless friends and family members, including a very special relationship with her neighbour, Susan.

In addition to her incredible commitment to family and friends, Peggy will be remembered for her love of shopping, and a good bargain, her classy style, and those spectacular Christmas Eve parties.

We will gather for a visitation on Sunday, October 1, 4-7pm, at Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor Street West), and share memories and celebrate this extraordinary woman on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 10:30am in the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Margaret's memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
