It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Leishman at the age 83 years after along and brave battle with Alzheimer’s. Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jack William Leishman, her two daughters Debbie Leishman (Jed MacKimmie – predeceased), Bonnie Leishman and her granddaughter Maegan MacKimmie-Taylor (Scott Taylor).
Margaret was born in Montreal, Quebec where she met Jack and married Jack at very young age. They lived in Verdun for a few years before moving to Lachute, Quebec where they raised their two daughters. Margaret was a stay at home mom and Jack continued to work in Montreal until November 1990 when they moved to Mississauga.
Margaret’s favourite hobby was knitting slippers for her family and all of her friends especially at Christmas time.
We all have fond memories of mom making birthday cakes where she would wrap coins in wax paper and then we would hunt for the money in the cake.
Margaret also enjoyed cross country skiing in her early days in Lachute where we would spend the day skiing back to the “farm”.
Many thanks to the compassion and support of the entire staff at Silverthorne Community Care Center in Mississauga.
Visitation Monday October 27, 10 AM to 11 AM. Service at 11 AM. There will be a reception following the service.
