I remember Malcolm for his wit and strategic approach to work. I enjoyed our chats in the lunch room about leisure and simpler things in life. We pray for peaceful hearts for all those missing Malcolm.
Jeremy Paulus
we were colleagues at the Ontario Civil Service and we grew to respect each other and became good friends. He will be missed.
Sending my love to the family, he was a special brother and will always be in my heart.
I send my deepest condolences to Judy and all the Smeaton family
Dear Judy: my heart goes out to you. I have so many memories of Malcolm and he was truly a character I will never forget. Two of my favourite memories: when my son was a baby I brought him into work to show him off. He got cranky and Mac took him and cradled him on his big chest with such love that Curtis immediately fell asleep. And second, during the Social Contract my relationship with John was rocky because of all the time I was away working. Mac gave me the good counsel that family and love must always be the priority. He likely saved the relationship. Such a good man with such a big heart. And so much fun too: such crazy times. If anyone needs a wake, it’s Malcolm! Take good care of you and yours.
