Luz M. Soriano, of Mississauga, Ontario, was born in Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines, on July 23, 1929.

Luz grew up in Camiling, Tarlac, in the ancestral home filled with family. She was brought up with traditional values, married her love, Agripino, and welcomed their one and only daughter, Renee, at the age of 23. She was trained in hair science and home making. She was very skilled in sewing and often made beautiful dresses for Renee, and her cousin, Marilyn. She handled the cooking and cleaning for the family, to assist her aging and ill parents, earning her the title of “Mama Cing“.

Luz was petitioned by Renee to join her in Canada, where she worked part time in the factory and eventually helped care for her grand nieces.

In her later years, she enjoyed visiting with her family and friends in the Philippines and the U.S. She loved watching her Filipino soap operas while enjoying her favorite ice cream. Luz was a storyteller and knew all the latest chismis.

Luz passed away on May 24, 2024, at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Regina (Renee); husband, Agripino; sisters: Anatolia, Marina, and Paz; brothers: Oscar, Adolpho and Efren. She is survived by her sister, Nora, and her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, in Canada, Philippines, U.S., and Australia. Luz is forever loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
