I have so many fond memories of Uncle Lou, however, to me, he will always be the gentle giant who ALWAYS had a smile on his face, no matter what. Growing up, I remembered him as a large, intimidating physical figure, though, very soft spoken and extremely kind.
When I was younger, my family were in a state of transition — preparing to move from one house to another. While we waited for our new house to be built, Uncle Lou and family offered their house to us — generously taking us in for a few months. I can warmly remember Ces, Rich and I watching TV in the living room — quite possible Rambo — and hear Uncle Lou and Tita D in the kitchen cooking up a storm, while they listened to the Blue Jays game on a small radio, which sat on the side table along the wall. That will forever be etched in my memory, as a real, warm, genuine and caring time in my life. It is so representative of Uncle Lou and his family. His legacy lives on in Tita D, his children, grandkids and everyone who he has touched.
I am so very blessed and grateful to call him my uncle. RIP Uncle Lou, love you!
