Lucy Piunno

December 13, 1921 -  May 16, 2018

PIUNNO, Lucia (nee Mancini) - On Wednesday May 16th, 2018, Lucia Piunno, at the age of 96, passed away peacefully. Lucia will be sadly missed by her five children, Margaret Longo, Lina Morra (Michael), Nick Piunno (Debbie), Teresa Miolla (John), Mairi Alvarez (PC). She will also be missed by eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents Angelo and Theresa Mancini, her loving husband, John, her sister Florence, as well as an infant son, Angelo. Lucia was born in San Giovanni in Galdo, Campobasso, Italy. She came to Canada in August, 1953 and made a home in Welland, Ontario. With strength and passion, Lucia worked hard to provide a life of laughter and love for all her family. Lucia spent many years of her life working and volunteering in the Welland community. She enjoyed spending time with her family, in her garden, travelling, lawn bowling, and playing bocce. The family would like to thank the staff at the Village of Humber Heights who facilitated comforting care through her final chapter
Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Yorke” Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W, at Windermere (East of the Jane subway), on Friday from 4-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 3055 Bloor St. W, Etobicoke on Saturday, May19th, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Glendale Cemetery, 1810 Albion Road.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in memory of Lucia.
