Lois passed away peacefully March 5, 2026. A bright, lively and talented person, she leaves behind fond memories of a person who loved life, enjoyed every day, and shared her enthusiasm with her many friends, relatives and clients. Her sewing and designing skills began early, as she would help Mom in designing and making her own clothes and accessories. She graduated from the Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, and on her return to Toronto, opened a store in Yorkville where she and her partner designed and manufactured their own line of clothing. She later moved to Maui, and again opened her own store, designing and making her original creations and enjoying the sun. On her return to Toronto, she started her own successful interior design company, Lois Macaulay Interior Design. She was a Past President of the American Society of Interior Designers, twice winning the ASID Interior Design Award, and received two Presidential Citations for contributions to the profession. In addition to her design career, she was active in Eurythmy, both in teaching and in organizing and participating in performances.
Lois will be fondly remembered by her brother Douglas, nephews Brant and his wife Bailey, Brock and his wife Lauren and their son Mason.
Many thanks to the emergency staff at Mount Sinai, and the Palliative Care team at Hennick Bridgepoint for their care and attention.
