In Celebration of

Lila Lupo

January 24, 1951 -  September 25, 2017

Lila passed away suddenly and peacefully in her home in Toronto. Over the years Lila has welcomed many to that home with good home-cooked food, glasses of wine and warm conversation.

Lila leaves behind her son Rudy who was her best friend and the source of her greatest pride. She loved who he became as a person as he grew up. She also leaves behind her dear younger sister Ana-Maca with whom she shared a love of life that gave them many wonderful moments together. In addition, Lila also leaves behind her closest friend Nada and a wonderful group of close friends who enriched her life immeasurably.

Lila was born in Zagreb where she married Romeo Lupo. As a family they relocated to Canada in 1989 with their son Rudy. She quickly became a beloved member of the Croatian community in Toronto. Always ready to jump in and contribute, she brought energy, warmth and humor to social moments and cultural events. Her understanding of people, her diplomacy and her sense of fun enriched everything she participated in.

Lila was a successful businesswoman, a great connoisseur of art and literature and uniquely stylish and sophisticated. Her great sense of humour delighted us all and made this world a bright place when in her presence.

Lila’s departure leaves a deep void in the lives of her family and many friends. We are all extraordinarily lucky to have shared her life.

It was with a heavy heart that I heard of the passing of Lila. I want to send my sincere and deepest sympathy to Rudy as well as to Lila's friend. She was a great woman who put in the world a great son in Rudy. Hugs and lots of thoughts to all of you who are supporting Rudy in this time of grief. Rachel Noel

You will always have a fond place in my heart for your laughter, your honesty and love for my family, always making my favourite comfort foods whenever we gathered in your home (which was often - as that was always the most warm and friendly place to spend time together). We will miss you Lila. xo

I have heard of Lila many times but didn't get to meet her until this past spring. She was such a nice and lovely lady. Even though we only had a short conversation, her energy and warmth made me feel that she was a close friend already. Someone so special can never be forgotten. Please accept my condolences. I am here for you, and please do not hesitate to reach out, especially during this difficult time.
