In Celebration of

Linda Wells

March 7, 1946 -  January 23, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Mary Wells at Tall Pines Long Term Care Centre on January 23, 2022, in her 75th year. Beloved wife for over 50 years of the late John S. McGuigan, daughter of Mary E. Wells and the late John D. Wells, and sister of Carol, Beth, and Richard.
Linda grew up in the west end of Toronto and attended Lakeshore Teacher’s College before embarking on a career teaching in Etobicoke and Peel regions. She was a remarkable teacher and choral conductor who worked tirelessly to bring out the best in her students and help her colleagues. Over her long career she taught music, library, special education, and general education to countless elementary students. She had a strong interest in students with educational or personal challenges, and she devoted a great deal of her energy to these children. She was a chorister for many years at Islington United Church before she took up the direction of her own choir at Eden United Church in Mississauga. In addition to her lifelong participation in all the performing arts, she was an avid crafter, gardener, and traveller who visited almost every continent in the world.
She will always be remembered for her eagerness and willingness to help and love those around her, without limits. A bon vivant who loved life and loved to laugh, Linda will be greatly missed by her many friends and those whose lives she touched.

A celebration of life will take place when restrictions allow.

To honour Linda’s memory, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or the National Ballet School Foundation (Designation: Tom and Diana Brown Scholarship Fund).

I met Linda while working at McBride PS. She always had a twinkle in her eye and a great sense of humor. She was a kind, supportive friend . We shared a love of music, library work and Bonnie Glass creations! She was a great lady!

Linda brought sunshine to all our lives, and particularly as a second mother to my daughter Sarah.

Working with Linda for some 7-plus years in a minister/music director relationship was a gloriously happy time at Eden United Church. Planning meetings with Linda occasionally covered music for the Sunday service, but mostly ranged over a wide field of subjects, of people, of hilarious situations. Linda set the bench mark for quality and diversity in service music at end. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

Linda and I met when we were teenagers, and I am grateful that we have been close friends ever since. I'm so glad that she and John came to our 35th Wedding Anniversary party three years ago. Linda was a dear friend to many, a lover of classical music and ballet, a world traveller and raconteur formidable! What a privilege to have been part of that circle....many precious memories with much singing and laughter! Sending much love and deepest condolences to her dear family.Linda will always live in our hearts.
