It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of Linda Sonja Herd on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Born on February 6, 1943, Linda just celebrated her 83rd birthday.
Linda was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ronald George Herd, with whom she shared 43 years of marriage. Together they built a family that became the center of her world and her proudest accomplishment.
She will be deeply missed by her loving children: Blair (Kathryn), Dariene, and Derek (Kerry). Linda was a cherished and devoted grandmother to Sarah, Aiden, and Brooklyn, who brought immeasurable joy and light into her life. Her grandchildren were her greatest delight, and she treasured every moment spent with them and spoiled them whenever she could.
Linda was full of life and laughter. She had a vibrant spirit and a warm heart that drew people to her effortlessly. Her friendships, many spanning more than five decades, were a testament to her loyalty, kindness, and enduring sense of humor. Time spent with friends and familty—sharing stories, laughter, and memories—was among her greatest pleasures.
She enjoyed watching baseball, cheering with enthusiasm for her favourite teams, and found simple happiness in the companionship of her beloved cat. Linda loved the simple pleasure of lunch and a movie. Her Red Hat group of friends kept her active and youthful in her later years. Above all, Linda loved her family. Her home was filled with many photos from over the years and she enjoyed reminiscing about fun times from the past.
Linda’s legacy is one of love, laughter, lasting friendships, and caring for those she loved. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her devotion to her family and especially her daughter Darlene, and the many lives she touched with her generosity.
Linda was one of a kind. She will be forever loved and deeply missed. In lieu of a funeral, a celebration of life is planned for the future.
