SMITH, Linda (née Coates)
Linda “Coatsie” Smith passed away at the Mississauga Hospital on February 16th, 2018. Predeceased by the love of her life and best friend, Tom, as well as her parents, Howard and Jeannette Coates, and in-laws, Ray and Vera Smith. She will be remembered dearly by son Geoff (Jill Cunningham), daughter Kelly (David Krug), daughter Kim (Paul Burroughs), sister Kathie (Craig Simpson), and sister-in-law Pat (Alfons Konrad). She will be missed by her six grand-children: Kristen, Trevor, Ethan, Nolan, Ryan and Samantha, as well as numerous friends and family. Linda was born in Toronto on January 25th, 1942, but lived most of her life in Mississauga. She earned her degree at the University of Western Ontario and began her working life as a teacher of Physical Education, English, and History for the Peel Board of Education, including a placement at the high school that she and many family members and friends attended, Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School. Eventually she decided to change careers and work with Tom in their own plumbing supply business. Linda was an avid golfer and bridge player who so enjoyed her membership at the Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, as well as many trips to play golf in Titusville, Florida. She had a natural ability to make lasting and meaningful friendships. Linda cared deeply for all who were a part of her life. Her beautiful smile and kind heart will never be forgotten. In keeping with her wishes there will be a Celebration of Life in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Trillium Health Partners.
