It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the sudden passing of Lesia at her home on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the age of 68. Beloved wife of Walter for over 40 years. Devoted mother to Matthew (Stephanie) and Melanie (Marco). Cherished grandmother of William and Miller. Eldest daughter of Ewa Bereckyj and predeceased by her father, Joseph Bereckyj, and her sister Irene. Beloved older sister of Christine and Adrienne (Myron). Loving aunt to Jessie, JJ, Jeffrey and Natalya. She will be greatly missed by all of her extended family and friends. Lesia taught for over 30 years with the Toronto Catholic District School Board. She was loved by many students and feared by the rest. In her retirement, she loved reading, crosswords, volunteering and painting.
Forever the editor, Lesia would have written this better than any of us. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. at Windermere, east of Jane Subway, on Tuesday, December 4 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Turner & Porter Chapel on Wednesday, December 5 at 10 a.m., followed by burial at St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery, 1280 Dundas St. W., Oakville. For those who wish, donations may be made in Lesia’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Toronto Public Library.
