It is with profound sadness and shattered hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Leopoldo Albanese, age 33, of Mississauga, Ontario on February 24, 2026.

Leo was born on February 17, 1993 in Siderno, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He was a man with a truly "gold" heart- a soul who brought an immeasurable amount of joy to everyone he encountered. To know Leo was to know laughter, kindness, and a spirit that lit up every room. While his life was far too short, the impact of his vibrant personality and his generous nature will be felt by his community for a long time to come.

Leo’s greatest masterpiece was the bond he shared with his mother. His love for her was unconditional and beautiful- a rare and steady light that defined his life.

He is survived by his grieving and heartbroken mother, Maria Albanese, who will deeply miss her son every single day. He leaves behind his devoted brother Giovanni Albanese (Sheila), who shares in this immense loss.

Leo leaves a void in a large, loving family spanning from Canada to Italy. He will be forever remembered by his uncles and aunts, Leopoldo Bartucci (Catarina Correia), and Pino Albanese (Rosetta). His cousins, Matteo, Maria Teresa, and John Pierre, along with many more cousins, uncles, aunts, and extended relatives who loved him dearly.

He now enters eternal rest, where he is reunited and surrounded in heaven by his beloved father, Pietro Albanese; his uncle, Frank Albanese; his paternal grandparents, Giovanni Albanese (Maria); and his cherished maternal Nonna, Rosaria Bartucci.

Beyond his family, Leo leaves behind a vast number of friends who were like brothers and sisters to him. He was the glue in many circles, and his absence leaves a silence that words cannot fill.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you and heartfelt acknowledgment to those who showed exceptional kindness and support to Leo, Tia Catarina Correia, Zia Irma Tenuta, Maria Correia, Angela Lioniti, his neighbor, Mariola Malic, and Tony Macri. Your compassion has not gone unnoticed.

Rest in peace, Leo. Your heart was too big for this world, but your memory will live in ours heart's forever.
