Delia's Tribute

Entered April 29, 2020

Siah was an intrinsic member of our family. Our families' history with its joys, tears, and laughter are indelibly imprinted on our hearts and minds. Siah, especially, had a laughter that was hilarious, expansive, contagious, and resounding!!

She was, to all students of the East, a phenomenal teacher, counsellor, mother, and learner- to enhance the intellect of her pupils. Arriving home several hours after school's closing, she would have just visited and scolded, the truants who chose to skip school for the delightful, transitory opportunity to spend hours in the nearby fields breaking and feasting on cane!  To pupils and parents, she would deliver a firm, unapologetic, caring warning to "make sure this ain' ever happen again! Then, she bids goodbye with an amicable smile. Such pupil behaviour would never recur.
From the shores in the East to Pond Site; from the pasture to the square,  she embraced all pupils as her own!

Those who dwelled in the horizon of her classroom, Sunday School space, her community, and her alley were also blessed to be in her heart.

Simone and Nicole, let sweet, fond memories of your mom and the love of God bring you peace and sustain you.
