In Celebration of

Laura Foster Di Giovanni

October 27, 1977 -  March 17, 2016

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Foster Di Giovanni, peacefully, at the Trillium Hospital, Mississauga, with her beloved husband Carlo Alberto Di Giovanni and her dear father David Foster at her bedside. Laura had tried valiantly to defeat the aggressive cancer that first appeared in late November, 2015. The suddenness of her passing leaves bereft her two beautiful children, David Alberto and Grace Elizabeth. She will be greatly missed by her mother, Marian Foster, her sister Anne Foster Meader and her husband Graham, their children Sarah and Katherine, as well as in-laws Alberto and Caroline Di Giovanni, Franca Di Giovanni and her husband Tyler Mokren and their daughter Elisabetta, and Annamaria Di Giovanni and fiancé Giacomo Morriello.
Laura was a vibrant, strong and kind person, a wonderful wife who fit into Carlo’s life with grace and energy and enthusiasm for all their plans to build a future together. She was a loving and devoted mother and ready to do anything for David and Grace. Laura was a teacher by profession and vocation. She motivated her students in classrooms in Mexico, then in Mississauga, for the Peel Board of Education and most recently in Toronto, for the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Laura cultivated friendships in every stage of her life, and maintained those cherished friends right to these final, difficult weeks. The family extends thanks to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who surrounded Laura with attention and professional care since the first diagnosis. Special thanks to our friends in the neighbourhood, for their constant help, especially Dr. Bruce Hickey and his wife Janice Crawford and to Cinthia our helper. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St W, Etobicoke, (between Islington and Kipling Aves) on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. and Sunday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor Street W. Interment St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Streetsville. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

People come into our lives for a reason, I was one of the lucky ones to have spent time with a very special young lady. I will remember her as a very loving person who loved to talk about her family with such feeling. I will miss you dear friend but will always remember your infectious smile.
Sincerely, Kathy
