The family regrets to announce the passing of Kazimierz Chmiel on Monday, April 16th, 2012 at Wesburn Manor, Toronto. Beloved husband of Emilia. Predeceased by his first wife, Jadwiga. Loved father of Adam and his wife Jennifer, Maria and her husband Marc, step-son Krys (deceased) and his wife Donna. Dear Dziadzia to Alex (Lisa), Stephanie (Andrew), Matthew (Karen), Samantha (Jason), Sarah (Kyle), Michael, Peter and Carolyn (Rob). Dear great grandfather to Ethan, Dylan, Hayden, Savannah, Brady, Emma and Logan. Also survived by his sister-in-law Helen (Tadek), their son Leszek, daughter Kasia (Marcin) and their children Paulinka, Filipek and Karolcia as well as his niece Barbara (Krys) and their children Michelle and Jimmy. Fondly remembered by family in England, Poland and many friends. Kazimierz was a veteran of the Second World War, serving as a Sgt in the Polish Corps in the French and British Armies. He arrived in Canada with his family in 1954, settling in Toronto. Kazimierz was a respected member of the St. Casimir’s Church choir for over 50 years and a loyal supporter of the Maple Leafs. Friends may call at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel 2357 Bloor St West (east of Jane subway) on Sunday from 4 –9 pm. Rosary prayers 8 p.m. Funeral mass at St Casimir’s Church on Monday, April 23rd at 10:15 am. Interment Park lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
