In Celebration of

Kathleen Louise "Katie" Leopold (nee Kelly)

February 15, 1974 -  January 1, 2018

Died peacefully at the Trillium Mississauga Hospital with her family by her side after a 12 month battle with Lymphoma. Until the end of her life, Katie remained resilient and tough in the face of challenging circumstances and continued to care most about the needs of others and most particularly, her family.
Katie leaves behind her husband Eric Leopold, and her three children, Emma, Mia and Harry, her father Gerald Kelly and siblings Kristie, James and Jonathan Kelly, 11 fine nieces and nephews, grandparents Nora and Wilf Reck and a supportive community of extended family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Katie was pre-deceased by her mother Carol Kelly and her grandparents.
Katie lived in Canada’s biggest city but she was never far from the countryside of Ayr, Ontario where she was born and raised. She was a role model to her friends, family and colleagues and the principles of common sense, pragmatism, and honesty governed all that she did in her personal and professional life. Katie’s proudest accomplishment was to be Mom, advocate and chief cheerleader for Emma, Mia and Harry. She was also a very dedicated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), and she enjoyed her role as the Chief Financial Officer of the York School.
Visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Peel Chapel (Highway 10 just north of the QEW) on Thursday January 4, 2018 from 6-9 pm Funeral Mass will be held at St. Clement Church, 409 Markland Drive, Etobicoke on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 10:00 am followed by a reception at the Markland Wood Golf Club at 245 Markland Drive.
In lieu of a gift of flowers, donations can be made to the “Lymphoma Cancer Research Fund” at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation to support their work and innovative life-saving treatments which will make an important difference to others living with lymphoma. Donations can be made by calling (416) 946-6560 or online at www.thepmcf.ca.

Katie always had that amazimg smile on her face. She was a delight to work with and it was always a pleasire to spend time with her

She often shared stories of her cherished family. They always included great bouts of laughter and often insightful moments as well.
She will be truly and deeply missed by anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.
She was a special soul.
God bless

My heartfelt condolences to the Kelly and Leopold families. Katie was my very first friend when I moved to Ayr at the age of 6. I have so many wonderful memories growing up with Katie - we were besties all through grade school at Ayr Public School. From playing on the swings and teeter totters, to being lunch room helpers for the Grade one class, building forts in the forest behind the school and so many sleepovers at the Kelly home. She was an amazing friend and despite losing touch in our teenage years I will always remember her smile and the adventures we had together as kids.
