Katherine (Kasia) Miga

March 4, 1998 -  July 8, 2016

"In God We Trust"

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected death of Katherine Miga, while on a volunteering trip in India. Our Kasia died suddenly on July 8, 2016, at the age of 18. Adored daughter of Stan Miga, Aileen (Alina) and John Miziolek and cherished sister of Alexandra (Lesia) Miga. Beloved granddaughter of Henry Glowala and the late Ursula Glowala, and Janina Miga and the late Stanislaw Miga, loving niece to Paul Glowala, Grayce and Matthew Hartt, Teresa Miga and the late Mary Miga. Dear cousin to Elise, Natalie and Carley Magnini, Sebastian and Joseph Glowala, Julian Hartt and amazing godmother and dear cousin to Cecelia Hartt.
Katherine was a positive, spirited and confident young woman. A 2016 graduate of Michael Power/St. Joseph High School, she was accepted with scholarship into Carleton University to study Neuroscience and Mental Health. She was extraordinary and generous, and was doing what she loved most - traveling and volunteering, when she suddenly became ill and tragically passed. Katherine lived life to the fullest with a compassionate heart for others. She had deep faith, “In God we Trust” was her motto. Katherine touched the lives of many with her positive energy, her authentic laugh and generous heart. She will be forever and sorely missed by her family and many friends, in whom her spirit will live on.
We are grateful to all our family and friends for their support and prayers through this most difficult time. Family and Friends will be received at Turner and Porter 2180 Hurontario St. Mississauga on Monday July 25th from 6-9 pm, Tuesday July 26th from 2-4 pm and 6-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Clement Catholic Church, 409 Markland Dr., Toronto on Wednesday July 27th at 10 am. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery 6933 Tomken Rd., Mississasuga. To continue the charitable work that Katherine valued so greatly, a foundation has been created in her legacy. Charitable donations in lieu of flowers are gratefully appreciated to The Katherine Miga Foundation, through Canada Helps: https://www.canadahelps.org/dn/27966 (administered by Aqueduct Foundation, Scotiabank). The Katherine Miga Foundation will fund scholarships at Michael Power /St. Joseph High School, as well as charities which help underprivileged children worldwide.
