In Celebration of

Katherine "Kay" Braithwaite

March 27, 1926 -  August 15, 2017

Our beautiful mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 15, 2017 surrounded by the love of her family. Mom was born on March 27, 1926 in Winnipeg, MB. She received her teaching certificate from Wellesley United College and later worked at the Hudson’s Bay Company where she met Dad, a former Pilot Officer in the RCAF. They were married in 1948 and then moved to Vancouver where both their daughters were born. After stops in Victoria and again in Vancouver, they moved to Mississauga in 1973. Together they travelled the world, making friends and having many great adventures. Mom was a true inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. With her faith in God, quiet strength, positive attitude, sense of humour and grace, she offered a welcoming hand to family, friends and all who touched her life. Mom believed in seizing the moment of inspiration and harnessing it to a good deed.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary Kulbaba, her brothers and sisters, and her beloved husband, John Wallace (Wally) Braithwaite. She will be forever loved and missed by daughters Barbara and Bonnie, son-in-law Chris and cherished grandson and “best pal”, Scott Wallace. Special thanks to Dr. Gupta, Dr. Abramson, Lidia, Janany, Debbie and the many others who provided care and support over the last few months. Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., (N. of the QEW), Mississauga, ON. on Sunday, August 20, 2017 from 3- 7 p.m. Funeral Service to be held at a later date in Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom’s name to Pancreatic Cancer Canada or Trillium Health Partners- Credit Valley Site.
