It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Karl on August 10, 2021, age 88. Predeceased by his first wife, Joanna (nee Rees) and his son Anthony. Loving partner to Wendy Hayden and her children Christopher (Mark) and Carrie (Erik). Adoring father to Hugo (Nathalie).
Karl enjoyed a full career in Property/Casualty Insurance, he started working in South Africa and later in the London market before settling in Canada’s Commercial Insurance Industry in various underwriting, marketing and administration roles where he was revered by staff and brokers alike. Karl was a gentleman, known for his manners and politeness, he made everyone he met feel special. Karl had a deep appreciation of the arts - film, theatre and especially opera but never in a stuffy way and his most favourite pastimes included ‘leisurely meals’ or a ‘curry fix’ with friends and family.
A private visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Due to COVID restrictions the visitation will be private, invitation by family only.
