February 5, 1934 - February 23, 2020

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Jozo Zorić in Mississauga, on February 23, 2020, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Štefica and loving father to Marianne (late Andrew Laut), Joe (Diana Merchel), Terezia (Rich Maeda), and Vendelin. He was the most loving Dida to Aidan, Nicholas, Matthew, and Ryan who brought him great joy. Son of Kata and Ivan (Ikić). He leaves behind family in Croatia including siblings, Dr. Tadija Zorić (Ana), Matija Tolić (late Pero), Ljuba Marić (late Ante), Vice Zorić (Ana), and Milan Zorić (Marijana) and the late Jure Zorić (Ana) and their families. In Canada, he is brother-in-law to Tony Guštin (Danica), Vilko Guštin, Nancy Guštin (late Nikola), Vera Krajac (Ivica), Antonija Sajko (Nick), Dragica Matić (Blaž), Zvonko Brdar (late Marica). He leaves behind his cousin Mirko Šimunović as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and Croatia.

Jozo was a very proud Croatian and a very proud Canadian. He came to Canada in the 60s with his wife and young daughter and soon had a thriving family with four children. He worked for a decade for Goodyear Canada and then as a contractor until his retirement. He loved his family and enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbours. He was very interested in world affairs and all current events. He had a long-standing interest in maps and geography. Jozo really loved the beach and swimming, especially in salty water when he got a chance. The family had many happy summer vacations in the Wasaga area and memorable vacations in Mexico and Florida. When the grandchildren came, no one was a more loving Dida than he was. He told the boys every time, “Dida will love you forever.”

Jozo was a very appreciative patient over the years, grateful to anyone that helped him, including medical staff and caregivers. He was quick to thank them all and offered to pray for them. On his behalf we thank all those that cared for him and especially all family and friends who gave him friendship and joy over the years.
