The family sadly mourns the loss of Joy Burke (nee Robb), aged 84 who passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on November 5th, 1941, to Joy and John Robb. She met the love of her life Alex in 1960 and they married September 16th, 1961. They immigrated to Canada in 1966 to start a new life together with their family. She had 3 wonderful boys, John, Al, and Walter and spent much of her time raising her wonderful family whom she devoted her life to and loved dearly. She worked for many years as a Manager of an Answering Service establishing many wonderful community relations with multiple health care providers.
Joy loved camping and spent over 30 years camping at Shalamar Lake located in Niagara-on-the Lake where she spent much quality time with her family and friends. Many of her friends and family bought camper trailers to camp alongside her, making it the best family experience for all who spent time there with her. She was known for hosting the best parties at special events, such as Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas and Birthday celebrations. She always loved and was known for bringing family and friends together.
Joy also had such a kind heart and provided her home to many individuals who needed a place to call home for short periods of time. She would never hesitate to help those in need, many who remained in contact with her throughout the years. She was everyone's "Aunt Joy" to all those who knew her.
Joy was a loving wife and mother and leaves behind her husband Alexander Winston Burke and her son's John (Pearly), Alexander II, Walter (Teresa) and her grandchildren Alexander III, Lucas, Liam, Brandon, Christopher, Alexa, Russell, Camille and her great grandchildren Violet, Gabriel, Azriel, Urielle and Aria. She was an extended "Nana" to Michelle, Corrie, Jessica and Wyatt, all whom she influenced and loved deeply. Joy is predeceased by her Mother Joy, Father John and sisters, Jean and Betty.
Many thanks to the dedicated staff who provided care and support through Community Health Care Services.
