Katalinic, Josip (Joe) 1934-2012

Passed away with his loving family by his side on August 17, 2012 in the Credit Valley Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Mississauga, Ontario, after losing an aggressive battle with liver cancer. Josip was born in Melnice, Senj, Croatia and came to Canada in 1957 where he made a beautiful life for himself and his family in Prince George, BC. He is survived by his loving wife Maria, children Ana and George, and their families, older brother Milan, and many dear and loving family and friends across Canada and Croatia. He and Maria lived in Prince George for over 35 years before retiring and settling in the Okanagan. He worked for many satisfying years as a rail car mechanic in Prince George with BC Rail (formerly Pacific Great Eastern) and enjoyed the natural, rugged beauty of northern British Columbia which he knew well through his work as well as through his passion, hunting and fishing. He never failed to let others know that, while his homeland, Croatia, always remained in his heart, he loved everything that Canada offered him and endeavoured to be a proud and dignified citizen who never took anything for granted. The Katalinic Family wishes to express its deepest respect, thanks and gratitude to Dr. Asha Gupta and the caring staff at Credit Valley Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Mississauga, Ontario, who provided Josip with incredible compassion, professional and dignified care during his illness. In lieu of cards, gifts or flowers, the Katalinic Family happily requests donations to be made to Credit Valley Hospital Foundation in Josip’s honour. (www.cvhfoundation.ca) Friends may call at the Turner & Porter 'Peel' Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (N of the QEW) on Monday, August 20, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. Rosary Prayers at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Croatian Parish, 9118 Winston Churchill Blvd, Norval, (Fr.
