In Celebration of

Josephine Doreen Pietrangelo

December 1, 1932 -  September 30, 2022

It is with deep sadness that the family of Josephine Pietrangelo (nee Chiaramonte) announce her passing at Trillium Mississauga Hospital on Friday September 30, 2022. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Dominic (2016). Loving Mother to Rosemarie (Brian), Michael (Laura), Jim (Sara) and cherished Nana to Larissa (Mike), Michael (Christina), Carly (Ivan), Samantha (Andy). A proud Great Grandma to Preston and Lucas.

Josephine was born in Toronto to John and Rose Chiaramonte. She had a twin brother Frank and an older sister Pearl. They grew up in the east end of Toronto. In 1954 she married her beloved Dominic and they moved to the west end of Toronto and started their family. As a Mother she was a pillar of strength with perpetual love for her children. Always there to teach, guide and offer comfort in any phase or life situation. Her giving nature and kindness to others brought her great joy. Always there to help, she had great inner strength and determination.

Josie loved her community and her faith was strong. As a member of St. Clement Catholic Woman’s League she participated in group meetings and took a leadership role in running many Parish socials. She had a flare for fashion and after her children grew into young adults, she resumed a career in fashion retail where she helped dress many woman in style. Her taste was impeccable along with her love for shoes.

Josie and Dominic had an incredible group of friends and extended family, along with relationships that lasted for decades. They enjoyed activities such as dances, bowling, trips, and dinner parties, going on picnics and hosting BBQ’s. They loved to dance and were very talented. She was an incredible cook and hosted all of the family Holidays. Most of all she was known for her amazing baking, in particular her cookies, so delicious, fancy and made with love. The ultimate though were her Butter Tarts, her inner circle labeling her the Butter Tart Queen. No Butter Tart came close to Josie’s. She loved spending time with her Grandchildren, drinking tea and sharing stories and insights. Most recently spending time with old and newly found friends at Parkland brought her great enjoyment. The family would like to acknowledge and thank the Doctors, Nurses, Personal Support Workers, Family and Friends who contributed to Josephine’s outstanding care and wellbeing. Most recently many thanks to the kind and caring Staff at Parkland on Eglinton who helped her through many challenges. Josephine will be dearly missed.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W., Etobicoke (between Kipling & Islington Aves.) on Tuesday October 11th from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday October 12th at 9:30 am. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. For those who wish, donations to Trillium Health Partners or St. Clement Parish would be greatly appreciated.
