I could not believe the news when I was informed of Dear Joe’s passing away. I had last met him when I was visiting Toronto in 2017 and attending St George’s celebration. Uncle Joe was there. I met him after decades. He was so happy.
I will never forget the happy face of Uncle Joe. I never realized that it was the very last time I would meet him. It’s so sad. On the other hand I can’t imagine his meeting with Nanna Maria now, his mother, after so so many decades.
Wishing my cousins Michael and Diana much peace and empathy

Uncle Joe and I had a close relationship, not only was he my Uncle and Godfather, but we worked together for many years.
We shared a love of gardening and cooking, so, many lunch breaks were spent discussing recipes and our gardens. We lived close by each other, and we would often visit, whether it was to discuss the planning of the new spring garden, or to wander around the garden, asking for advice.
Uncle Joe was never one to sit still, whether working on a construction project at home, or working in his incredible garden, and this continued his entire life. Even in his later years, there was no project that was too difficult for him to take on.
At work, Joe was a highly respected, Master carpenter. He was very particular about how the shop was run, and although very strict about his expectations, he was kind and patient at the same time. Everyone held Joe in the highest regard.
A memory that stands out in my mind was one day that Uncle Joe was talking to a new employee and I overheard him saying- "Haven't you ever sharpened a pencil fella?" I still smile every time I think of this.
Tom and I were fortunate to spend an absolutely beautiful, summer day with him and Jean last summer when they visited us in Niagara. Once again, we walked around outside discussing our gardens, and once again we walked around inside discussing possible renovations and fixes to our century home - it was like it's always been.
Uncle Joe will be hugely missed. Deepest condolences to my dear cousins and their families - although I didn't know his grandchildren well, he was extremely proud of them and always had a glint in his eyes as he spoke of them and their accomplishments.

An amazing uncle who will never be forgotten .
Very sorry to hear of Joe"s passing. I have known Joe since he came to Canada. I used to visit Joe when I went in to Charlie"s shop. Charlie was my brother in law. Our condolences to the whole family. Victor & Gloria Bonello
Joe came to our home many times to visit his brother Charlie when Charlie was bedridden. He was always a good friend. R.I.P. Pauline
