In Celebration of

Joseph Holder

August 10, 1957 -  May 10, 2016

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Holder Jr. who was denied his fight with cancer. Joe openly admitted that he did not believe in soulmates and then there was Flo. After a nearly a lifetime as a bachelor he met a lady that proved him wrong. We never thought anyone could smile so much or be so happy. Born in Winnipeg, Joe lived almost half his life in Mississauga where he developed a very tight and close group of friends. He will be deeply missed by them all, especially his closest friend Rob and boys Mackenzie and Craig Sherrington. In his youth Joe was active in sports with hockey, broomball and track and field among his favorites. He then later fell in love with golf. As a young man in Mississauga he enjoyed racquet sports and developed a love of winter camping, boasting an unbroken string of camping expeditions to the Killarney Provincial Park at 15 years running. He is also very proud that he and his friends 'conquered' an 8 day epic adventure of the West Coast Trail in British Columbia. Not blessed with children of his own, Joe took his role as UNCLE to the tenth degree. His love for his nieces and nephews showed no bounds and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. Joe is survived by his wife Florence, and Mother “Peggy”, brothers Bob (Lyne) Dave (Sandy), sister Alanna, sister in-law Linda (Fred), nieces and nephews namely Jennifer (Craig), Melissa (Thomas), Sarah (John), Madeline (Robin), Rory, Drew, Aileen, Joe, Tim, and great Uncle to Joe & Naveah, cousins Tom (Kay) Holder, Catherine (Stewart) Davies, and their families in Canada, and numerous relations in Ireland. He leaves us to join his brother Fred and Dad Joseph Sr. His strong spirit, generosity, and love will be with all those whose lives he has touched. He will never be forgotten! In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Cancer Care or a charity of your choice are gratefully accepted.

Even though we have known Joe and Florence for only a short time, both of them have made an indelible mark on our lives. Joes wonderful smile and joy of life will be sadly missed. We count ourselves lucky to have crossed paths on our journey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Florence and all of Joe's family and circle of friends.

Have such great memories, over several years, of Joe & his laughter & humour.. And after he met Flo his laughter magnified, reflecting the fun they had and the love they felt for each other - and they have shared with us all generously. Our hearts are heavy with loss but our memories of Joe will sustain us forever.. Thanks Joe..

To Flo and the entire Holder clan, my deepest sympathies on the passing of Joe. He was a great friend and I will miss our satirical banter and the times that we had. RIP my friend, RIP!

Rest in Peace, my good friend.....
Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell
When I embark.
For though from out our bourne of time and place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

Though I have worked with you for 3 short years, I grew very close to you.

It will be hard not seeing your face at work.

You will be greatly missed by me.
