It is with heavy hearts that we remember Jose Machado Moniz—a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Jose peacefully passed on November 11, 2025, at Milton District Hospital, at the age of 88.
Born in Ribeira Grande, Sao Miguel, Azores, Jose was deeply rooted in his Portuguese heritage. He later immigrated to Canada, where he built a beautiful life in Toronto before settling in Mississauga. In his later years, he resided in Milton. A proud and hardworking man, his years as a crane operator reflected both his passion for construction and his dedication to providing for his family. His strength in faith guided him throughout his life and brought him comfort in his final days.
Jose was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary, and by his granddaughter, Amanda Moniz. He is lovingly remembered by his children Joseph Moniz, Margarida (Miguel) Medeiros, and Madalena (Lino) Ferreira; his grandchildren Melanie (Luis) Moniz Correia, James (Abi) Medeiros, Cassandra (Ravi) Singh, Bryan Ferreira, Michael (Stephanie) Medeiros, Meghan Medeiros, Juston Ferreira, and Johnathan Ferreira; and his precious great-grandchildren Quincy, Mackenzie, Nathan, Rosalie, and Tristan.
Although Jose was known for his strength and resilience, his love for his family was always at the heart of who he was. Never one to shy away from sharing his opinion, he had a good heart and showed his love and care in his own unique way.
He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his willingness to help anyone in need, and his honest, never-shy opinions that always came from the heart.
He will be deeply missed by his family and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
