John died peacefully at West Park Long Term Care Centre on July 13, 2025 at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Dorothy, his children David (Jane), Robert (Judy), Nancy, Janet (Dan Popadiuk) as well as his grandchildren, Emily and Michael Long.

After his retirement from the architectural design field, he followed his passion for oil painting using photos from his many travel destinations and inspirations. He produced more then 100 exquisitely detailed paintings that are cherished by many.

A memorial service will take place at Turner & Porter, Butler Chapel 4933 Dundas St. W. on Wednesday July 23rd at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders, Alzheimer’s Society or the Food Bank “WAES” (Weston Area Emergency Support) would be greatly appreciated.
