To Bette and Family
We were so sorry to hear of Jake's passing. We really enjoyed our dinners together. Jake was a wonderful man full of life and lots of great stories. We certainly regret not getting together more after we moved away. We will be in Italy on the 15th so will not able to make the visitation. Please know we will be thinking of you and your family.

I count it an honour to have known Jake for 40 years -- first as an employee, then as a consultant, then as a valued friend.

Jake was a man of rare substance. He cared deeply about his family, the companies he led so ably, and the wider world. He was a mentor who personified the elusive art of executive management, and who achieved an unbeatable understanding of the North American cement industry.

I have been privileged to apply Jake's lessons over the past 40 years, in business and beyond. Unfailingly, those lessons have stood the test of time.

Sally and I offer our sincere condolences to Bette and the family.

RIP, Jake.
