In Celebration of

John Frazer Stewart

September 7, 1946 -  October 23, 2022

John passed away on Sunday morning, October 23rd at the age of 76. John will be deeply missed by Carol, his spouse of 53 years, his dear son's Colin (Julia) and Neil (Audrey) and his 3 precious grandchildren Liam, Parker and Declan.

John had a full life. He enjoyed his 32 year teaching career with the TDSB. After retiring, he and Carol spent more than a dozen years wintering in Florida with dear friends, and travelling to many destinations, including Europe, Australia and the Far East. His pastimes included many sports – hockey, tennis, curling and golf- and John took great joy spending time with family and friends. He was also committed to helping others through almost 15 years of volunteer work. His faith was strong and he was an active member at St. Philips Lutheran Church.

The family would like to express our thanks to St. Michael’s Hospital for the wonderful care they gave John through the years.

A visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas St. W. Etobicoke on Thursday. October 27 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. A funeral service will take place on Friday, October 28 at 11:00am at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 61 West Deane Park Drive.

If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to St. Michael's Hospital or St. Philip’s Lutheran Church.

John was a true gentleman and a wonderful teacher, counsellor and colleague. His work helping new immigrant students, in particular, access education, especially during the turmoil of the amalgamation process, was invaluable.
My sincere condolences to Carol and the rest of the family. Gone too early. Rest In Peace, John.

Dear Carol, Colin, Neil and families: we are very sorry for your loss. Please accept our condolences. We will miss John's generosity and sense of humour. I always appreciated how "the door was always open" and always felt welcome in the house. AP/Donna/Joshua/Emily.

Sorry that we won’t be able to honour John by attending his funeral. I have many fond memories of being a member of the faculty of Harbord Collegiate with John, watching him teaching Latin and later counseling students. Many lunch hours were spent in earnest discussions and fellowship together. Please accept our sincere condolences for this great loss.

John was a good friend and team mate in various sports such as golf, curling and tennis for many years. We spent many challenging but exciting times playing various sports. All those who knew John will miss his easy going nature and friendly personality.
Throughout his health challenges, John never complained but always made the best of his condition. May you rest in peace, John.
