John had a great sense of humor and loved history.
We have known one another since at least the age of 10. Our group had great times together….YPS meetings (at the Lutheran church in Park Ex in Montreal) with fun and games on Friday nights, yearly Xmas carolling (and drinking) at the church member’s homes and various excursions south of the border when we were single. John was always the one who would organize events. Without him nothing ever got done or ran smoothly.
Rest in peace John.
Dear Terry and Family:
We were so saddened to hear of the passing of a long time colleague and friend, John Juras, and extend our deepest and heartfelt condolences to you. We fondly remember John's dedicated activities at the Montreal Church, his humour, speeches, and his and Terry's hosting of the annual Grey Cup get-togethers of the 'Montreal Gang' at their home. Rest in Peace old friend!!

Trevor’s dad was a welcoming and kind-hearted individual who always created a warm environment for us to be in as kids. His interest in politics and current events kept us curious, and he was always eager to engage in conversations about these topics. He’ll be dearly missed by all. God bless, John.
John and I were childhood friends. His mom (my godmother) and mine (his godmother) grew up together in Czechoslovakia, now Slovakia. Once together in Montreal their friendship continued. Following my family's move to the farm, in Northfield Station, John and I spent many summers together, both in Montreal and at the farm. In Montreal I recall frequent and fun trips to the pool on St. Helen's Island. On the farm John was part of the family taking part in all of the usual day to day jobs. He also learned how to ride a bike, drive a tractor and eventually a truck. Of no surprise, John's favourite spot off the farm was Upper Canada Village where he was only too willing to share historical information about the war of 1812 - 1814. Those were good times. Like the hours we spent constructing a teepee, a great place to spend hot, muggy nights.
On and off throughout the years we kept in touch. There were the phone chats, John's news article clippings sent via post and, of course, those great Grey Cup get togethers at John and Terry's home in Mississauga. Our last memories of being together are when Marilyn and I were so happy to have John and Terry make it to some of our yearly barbecues.
You were a valued friend, John. Now, rest in peace.
