In Celebration of
John "David" Dorman
October 24, 1939 -
October 20, 2017
Passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson House in Oakville, surrounded by his loving family, after a sixteen-year struggle with cancer. Beloved husband of Myrna Dorman, devoted father to Colin and Jason and their wives, Analita and Tania. Father of David Junior (deceased). Grandfather to Leah, Christopher, Matthew and Gregory. Son of Connie and John Dorman. Brother to Carol. Brother in law to Bob and Debbie. Extended family in Ohio. Special mention to Joe and Sue Little, Ohio neighbours for 35 years.
David was interested in electrical engineering from an early age, earning his amateur radio license W8UQW before the age of fifteen. He began his professional career in the Silicon Valley of Palo Alto before returning to Painesville Ohio to start the electrical engineering department at Coe Manufacturing Company with branches in Ohio, New York, Atlanta and Portland, Oregon. His
career afforded him much world-wide travel which he thoroughly enjoyed. David retired in 2001 as Engineering manager. During those years he forged many close and enduring friendships. Memberships in associations were many and varied, as were his interests.
He and Myrna met 35 years ago in North Fort Myers at Carriage Village. Her parents were among the first residents, followed ten years later by his parents. Thus, began a long friendship, followed by marriage in 2003. David is a U.S. citizen, but a resident of Ontario.
The cornerstone of our family is gone – our support, our strength, our rock. He will be deeply mourned and always missed. We are so lucky to have had him. He has provided all of us with a multitude of enduring memories, and these we cherish.
OUR EVERYTHING

“We are travelers on a cosmic journey, stardust, swirling eddies and whirlpools of infinity. Life is eternal. We have stopped for a moment to encounter each other, to meet, to love, to share. This is a precious moment. It is a little parenthesis in eternity.”
