In Celebration of

John Christian

April 14, 1946 -  December 24, 2025

With love and remembrance, we honour the life of John, a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend, whose presence touched countless lives through kindness, service, and quiet leadership.

John was predeceased by his parents, Verna (2004) and Edward (1965); his brother George (2016); and his cherished nephew Mark (2022). He leaves behind his loving brother Nick (Mary), and a family who adored him— his nephew Paul (Lisa), and his treasured great-nieces and great-nephews: Evan, William, Kyra, Mason, Sophia, and Noah. To them, he was a steady source of wisdom, warmth and fun.

Known as the premier family ambassador for both the Christian and Janetos families, John carried himself with grace and integrity. He devoted thirty-four years of his life to the Etobicoke Board of Education, where he was a respected professional educator. His greatest passion lay in teaching special-needs children, a role he fulfilled with extraordinary patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication.

Faith was the cornerstone of John’s life. A longtime and devoted member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, he served faithfully as a Sunday School director and teacher and was also a dedicated usher. His commitment to nurturing faith in others reflected the deep spirituality he lived every day.

John was also a man of curiosity and adventure. An enthusiastic traveler, he explored the world, embracing new cultures and experiences with joy and wonder. His generous spirit extended beyond his family and church through loyal service to the Terry Fox Foundation and Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW), causes that reflected his compassion for humanity.

Genuinely cherished and deeply respected, John leaves behind a legacy of service, humility, and compassion. Though his absence is profoundly felt, we are grateful for the memories he gave us and the example he set of a life marked by kindness and laughter.

Eternal be his memory.

A special visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga, from 2-4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m.

The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 222 Burbank Drive, Toronto. A private family interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Oshawa.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Sunday School, the Terry Fox Foundation, or Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW).

John taught across the hall from me at Millwood School in the seventies. His beautiful smiling face, gentle demeanour, positive attitude and wonderful sense of humour will be missed. You will be fondly remembered my friend. Thank you for the affection, the laughter, the wonderful example you set for so many. May you rest in peace. His memory will be eternal.
