In Celebration of

John Alexander

August 5, 1954 -  March 5, 2025

John Fredrick Alexander, 70, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2025. Born in Brampton, Ontario, he spent most of his life between Mississauga and Muskoka, embracing every moment with passion, enthusiasm, and an unmistakable zest for life.

John had a deep love for adventure and a wide range of interests, including building, hunting, snowmobiling, travel, food, and music. He loved to dance, had a passion for snow skiing, and was an accomplished water skier.

John’s true passion was custom home building—he had a remarkable talent for designing and constructing beautiful homes, a craft he poured his heart into over the years. He built several properties and took great pride in his work. While he made a lasting impact on the real estate industry—becoming the first RE/MAX agent registered in Eastern Canada in March 1980—his greatest fulfillment came from building. Over the years, he also had a distinguished career as a Real Estate salesperson, broker services manager with RE/MAX Ontario-Atlantic, and broker/owner of RE/MAX Professionals in Mississauga and Etobicoke, earning the admiration and respect of colleagues and clients alike.

His greatest joy, however, was his beloved cottage on Pine Lake in Muskoka—a place he first built in 1980 and rebuilt in 1997. It was more than just a cottage; it was a gathering place where he created countless cherished memories with family and friends. His garage, affectionately known as “John Depot,” was legendary for its extensive (and often excessive) collection of tools and hardware, always stocked for any project or repair.

John is survived by his three siblings, Susan, Paul, and Lori; his four children, Leah, Christopher, Sarah, and Melissa; their spouses, Paul, Nicole, and Sean; and his seven grandsons, Jackson, Marcus, Julian, Harrison, Weston, Austin, and Brody.

John was loved by all who knew him. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering willingness to help earned him the nickname “911 John,” a title he lived up to in every way. He was the first to lend a hand, always putting others before himself. His distinct sense of humor, infectious laugh, and signature “Big John” hugs left an unforgettable mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

John’s legacy of love, selflessness, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
