In Celebration of

Johanna "Gertrude" Hayes

July 9, 1922 -  December 5, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our much-loved
mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, Johanna "Gertrude"
Hayes, in her 101st year, at her home in Midland Ontario, surrounded by her
family.

Predeceased by her husband Clarence Hayes, parents William and Elizabeth
Power, parents-in-law Patrick and Ellen Hayes, special granddaughter Staci Rae
(Geoff), special niece Gertrude Starkes, special great niece Melissa Keating, her
one sister, five brothers, and their spouses (Mary and Jack Laracey, Edward and
Mary Power, Jack and Eileen Power, Patrick and Bella Power, William and Norah
Power, Frank and Philomena Power).

Gertrude loved her family more than anything and will be immensely missed by
her children, John (Marilyn), Rosalita (Mark McCarthy), Ellen (Bob Burton -
deceased), Pauline (Bill Ghaney - deceased), Regina (David), Clarence (LeeAnn),
Patrick (Shelley), Edward (Kim), and her 12 grandchildren and their families which
includes 17 great-grandchildren.

She was much cherished and will be sadly missed by her many nieces, nephews,
friends, neighbors, and their families. She bought joy to all who knew her and left
a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Visitation will take place at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W. Mississauga, on Saturday, December 10th from 2:00 to 6:00 after which she will return to her home province of Newfoundland. After 55 years, Gertrude will be laid to rest beside her husband at St. Patrick’s R. C. Cemetery in Brigus.
